Head Teller

Duties & Responsibilities:  
bulletSupervise and schedule teller’s work to insure sufficient staffing, efficient and accurate processing of transactions, and maintenance of favorable customer relations.
bulletPrepare combined teller totals daily, prepare daily cash letter and check deposit, approve teller totals, and assist tellers with balancing problems. Open and close banking center.
bulletMaintain vault cash at appropriate level, obtain and sell cash, verify incoming cash.
bulletProcess routine daily work promptly: returned checks, correspondence, and interdepartmental correspondence.
bulletDirect training of new tellers, evaluate performance of teller with banking center managers.
bulletReceive customer inquiries, take responsibility for resolution of customer problems and complaints. Monitor correction of account errors, and control correspondence to customers regarding corrections.
bulletGive assistance to tellers with difficult transactions or corrections, providing follow-up assistance which will enable them to handle situations themselves later. Approve deposits and withdrawals above teller’s limits.
bulletPerform duties of teller as necessary.
bulletAccurate approval of customer transactions requiring a supervisor approval.
bulletProper check holds placed on following Reg CC Policies.
bulletAssist in the new accounts area. Counsel customers on deposit and loan products. Open deposit products, originate and close consumer and mortgage loans.
bulletResponsible for teller staff in all areas of sales and customer service. Oversee that the Banks service and sales standards are upheld by continual coaching and training. Every teller should be able to successfully cross-sell and promote bank products. The Head Teller is responsible to keep staff motivated and communicate the overall corporate goals.
bulletInsure that each teller portrays the Banks tag line, “Friendly People For Today’s Banking” and delivers the Best Banking Experience to customers both in person and by telephone.
bulletHave the leadership skills necessary to work and think independently. Keep the office manager informed on the areas that need additional training and coaching so that the staff remains optimistic and committed to the long-range success for the Bank.
bulletAny other duties pertinent to the position as requested by supervisor.
bulletProper documentation of CIP and BSA requirements.
bulletFollow the Bank’s security procedures from opening, closing and operations of the Banking Center.
bulletAssist Banking Center in meeting the standards for referrals and cross-sales.

Relationships
:
 
bulletResponsible to banking center manager for the fulfillment of functions, responsibilities, and authority for their interpretation.
bulletWill interact appropriately with officers, department managers and bank staff in effort to accomplish duties, achieves goals of the Bank, and maintain good internal relationships.
bulletWill have contact with customers and public that will be conducted in a manner to enhance overall marketing effort of the Bank.
bulletSupervise teller staff.

Qualifications:  
High school diploma or equivalent. Two or three years of retail banking experience.  Good organizational and communication skills.
